Does Texas Really Care For its People?

On September 18th 2015, TexasTribune posted an article “Parents of Disabled Children Ask Texas Not to Cut Services" written by Edgar Walters where he talks about the new cuts that are soon going to take place with Medicaid.
When you think about children with disabilities it breaks your heart doesn’t it? Well apparently children with disabilities means absolutely nothing to the state of Texas. The budget cuts that Texas is planning to make towards Medicaid is not only going to affect the poor, disabled children it also will affect therapists and others who work to help disabled children leaving them without a job. After families started finding out about the budget cuts towards Medicaid for children with disabilities they filed a lawsuit against the state. If Texas decides to cut the budget for Medicaid the state will not only lose the state funds but the federal matching dollars as well.

This article is so important to many of the people who live in Texas. It is sad to realize that the state is willing to give prisons more money to fund them instead of investing more money into rehabilitating children with disabilities. There are thousands of families struggling with their kid’s disabilities and have no idea that there is programs like Medicaid that will help their kids get better. Texas is being unfair and unreasonable instead of funding and helping out the kids that truly need the help it’s taking away their only hope. It is important to know what help we have and to fight to keep the help that the government is offering us. This article was a good reminder and an eye opener to many of us. Its time to fight for what we deserve and a better future for everyone.
